Clara Bancroft, age 90, of Roscommon, died on Saturday, October 8, 2022, in Roscommon, in the presence and comfort of her family.

Clara was born November 3, 1931, in Jackson, Michigan, to John and Sophie (Tocyna) Lattas. She grew up in the company of her six loving siblings.

She married the love of her life, Fred Bancroft on January 9, 1960, and together they raised three beautiful children. Together they lived in Jackson, MI and traveled to Higgins Lake every chance they could to enjoy snowmobiling, fishing, and other lake activities. They relocated to Higgins Lake permanently in 1978 after purchasing the Dairy Dome Restaurant.

After retiring, Fred and Clara spent their winters in Florida and summers at Higgins Lake. Clara enjoyed living life to the fullest, spending time with her family and friends, quilting, volunteering in the community and with her church. She will be remembered for her zest for life, her passion for the warm weather and of course, the Detroit Lions.

Clara will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her three children

There are many others that will miss her greatly, including the entire Maino family whom she cherished and her many loving friends.

Clara is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of more than 50 years, Fred Bancroft, and her six siblings.

A celebration of life for Clara will be held in the summer, her favorite time of year. Details to come. Contact Clara’s granddaughter Stevie Hagle with questions (stevie.collini@gmail.com).

The family prefers memorial contributions be made in Clara’s name to one of her favorite places to volunteer, St. Vincent DePaul of Roscommon.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wagner and Walsh Funeral Directors, Roscommon.
