James Andrew Armour, of AuGres, passed away peacefully at his home under the loving care of his family and hospice on Sunday, September 18, 2022, age 92 years.
Jim was born in Detroit to the late James C. and Rose P. (Miller) Armour on June 26, 1930. Shortly after, his family moved to the Vassar area where Jim would spend his childhood years and graduate from Vassar High School with the class of 1948.
He was drafted into the United States Army just after high school graduation and served our country during the Korean War era as a 2nd Lieutenant. After his honorable separation from the military, Jim was able to attend classes at Michigan State University and graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree!
Jim was an employee with Ford Motor Company for 30 years, working primarily as a General Superintendent in the steel division. In 1986, after a long and successful career, Jim was finally able to step away from his profession and begin to enjoy his well-deserved retirement years! Being an avid outdoorsman, he had a passion for golfing, boating, hunting, fishing and traveling the U.S and Europe. He even had the opportunity to hunt large game in Wyoming and New Foundland!
Being a Michigan State graduate, Jim would faithfully tune into television or radio to watch and listen to his Spartans play football and basketball. He was a member and previously served as a Commander of the AuGres VFW 8275.
im will forever be cherished by all of his family and friends who loved him! He is survived by his beloved wife, Bertha C. (Bierschbach) Armour, to whom he married in Saginaw, Michigan on February 24, 1951.
im and Bertha have celebrated 71 beautiful years of marriage! Jim is also survived by, daughter Debera K Armour (Michael) Homosassa Fl , Randal S. Armour (Susan) Manchester MI, Douglas E. Armour Traverse City MI. Grandchildren Nic Armour (Danielle) Renee Armour- Florea (Eric), Karin Popkey (Kyle), James R. Armour. Six great-grandchildren, Savannah, Samantha Florea, Wyatt, Eden Popkey, Violet, Elisabeth Armour. Predeceased by his parents, son Thomas J. Armour, Brother Lawrence W. Armour.
Funeral services with military honors were held Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Max Miller officiating. Per his wishes, cremation will take place after the funeral.
