Leonard L Kareus, 94, of Gladwin, MI passed away on August 22, 2022. He was born on October 18, 1927, the son of William and Ella (Godden) Kareus in Detroit. He was a veteran of the United States Army, proudly serving his country during the Korean War. On April 11, 1953, he was united in marriage to Mary Codden in Cadillac. He was a pipefitter for Local 98 in Detroit and Local 85 in Saginaw and was a lifetime farmer. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Leonard loved his Detroit Tigers.
Left to cherish his memory are his Wife of 69 years: Mary Kareus; son: Daniel (Mary Lou) Kareus; Grandchildren: Thomas (Danielle), Matt (Jacqueline), Jeremi (Jasmine), Ryan, Janet (Tony) Blackall; Great Grandchildren: Carter, London, Kinsley, Connor, Ethan, Alex, Sierra, Zoe, Scarlette, Axle; Brother: Bob ( Judy) Kareus.
He is preceded in death by his Parents: William (Ella Godden) Kareus; Son: Leonard; Siblings: Warren, Bill, Ken, Gloria, Doris, and Grace.
Funeral Mass will be conducted by FR. Marcel Portelli on Friday August 26, 2022, 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation will be held on Thursday. August 25, 2022, from 2-8 PM at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, Gladwin. He will be laid to rest at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. In Lieu of Flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to MyMichigan Hospice.
