Gordon L. Wood, 85, husband, father, grandfather, and friend died peacefully at his home on June 24, 2022.
Gordon was born during the Great Depression in rural northeast Ohio. Growing up during the Depression and the 2nd World War, Gordon and his older brother David worked on the farm and acted and behaved much like country boys did during those times. Upton graduating high school, Gordon moved around country to states including New Jersey, Illinois, Texas, and Alaska.
After receiving an associate’s degree in electronics in DeVry College in Chicago, he worked as a civilian contractor for US military bombers and on radar equipment.
In 1973, he married his wife of 48 years, Geraldine in Holly, Michigan where he settled into work with the Teamsters as an owner-operator hauling aggregate for 33 years. After numerous years of retirement, Gordon and Gerry moved from their long-time home in South Lyon, Michigan to West Branch, Michigan where Sunday dinners were always welcome with family and friends.
Gordon leaves behind his wife, Gerry, his two sons Joseph G. Wood of Enfield NH and Gordon K. Wood of Westland, MI, his grandchildren Kendall and Kristopher, cousin Barbara, and sister-in-law Donna.
Gordon is preceded in death by his parents Orville and Frances and his brother David.
