Melanie Nickyn, 39, formerly of Alger

Melanie Joyce Nicklyn (Dunn) was born in Saginaw Michigan on April 6th, 1983, to R. George Dunn and Karen L. Dunn. She was raised in Alger, Michigan and went to Standish Sterling Schools until 10th grade, and then graduated from Au Gres High School in 2001. She had recently graduated from college with her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and loved her job at Medilodge Nursing Home in Midland. Melanie was a blessing to everyone she met and touched the lives of so many people. She always had a smile on her face and loved to help others, especially with their weird medical questions. She was so smart and could remember the littlest details, which is probably what made her such a great nurse. Her lifelong dream was to be a mother, and her children were her absolute pride and joy. Melanie was an amazing mom, giving her best to her children at all times. Melanie was married to Chad Nicklyn on August 27th, 2016. They loved each other dearly. Melanie’s favorite song was Don McLean’s American Pie, and she gave the best hugs and cuddles. She was the best friend, mother, grandmother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, cousin, aunt, wife, nurse; pretty much anything she did, she did at 100%. She was loved more than she will ever know, especially by her children.

Melanie passed away peacefully at her home on June 19th, 2022. She was survived by her children Alaina Stanley, Louis Stanley, and Johnathan Nicklyn, along with her step-children Jesicah Stanley, Hayleigh Stanley, and Dominic Nicklyn, her husband Chad Nickyln and her parents, R. George (Brenda) Dunn and Karen (Jim) Dunn, her siblings LeeAnna (Jacob) Richards, Jared (Tabitha) Doran, Wesley (Colleen) Dunn and Amber (Jason) Northrup, her granddaughter Evelyn Stanley, along with many, many nieces and nephews that she loved and loved her back a lot.

Funeral Services at Lee-Ramsey Pinconning Chapel were held Thursday June 23rd, 2022. There will be a Memorial / Celebration of Life Gathering on July 23rd at the Forest Lake Clubhouse in Alger. All are welcome.
