Jim Kolar, 87, of Houghton Lake

James “Jim” A. Kolar, age 87, of Houghton Lake passed away on Thursday June 2, 2022 at Orchard Meadows Senior Care Home in Bloomfield Hills.

Jim was born on December 8, 1934 in Sanilac County, Michigan to Albert and Mary (Hund) Kolar. He was a heavy equipment operator for many years before retiring. Jim was married on August 7, 1954 in Argyle, Michigan to Elizabeth “Betty” Anne Susalla. The couple moved to Houghton Lake in 1991 from Sterling Heights. Jim was a member of St. Hubert Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Jim is survived by his children; Christopher (Susan) Kolar of Armada, Dawn (Jerry) Omilion of Rochester Hills, James P. (Michelle) Kolar of Hartland and David A. Kolar of Grayling, grandchildren; Steven Kolar, Lindsay Kolar, Leah Hodges, Ryan Omilion and Christine Sugg, Alexander Kolar and Sara Kolar, great grandchildren; Sonnie, Abe, Cory Claeys, Liam Duffy, Hadley, Jonathan Hodges and Olivia Sugg, sister; Diane and brother; Ronald. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Betty and brother; Carl.  

Funeral Services for James A. Kolar will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday June 6, 2022 from Christler Funeral Home-Houghton Lake Chapel with Father Bernard Tyler officiating. Interment will be in Lake Township Cemetery, Houghton Lake. Visitation will be held on Monday June 6, 2022 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Christler Funeral Home- Houghton Lake Chapel.
