Gary Palmer, 71, of Hale

Gary Lee Palmer passed away on June 27, 2022 surrounded by loved ones, in Bay City, MI.

He was born on June 21, 1950, in Flint, MI to Almon I. and Elizabeth J. (Stanlake) Palmer. Gary graduated from Hale High School in 1968 and later attended Kirtland and Mid Michigan College.

By his own admission he was a “jack of all trades, master of none”. He was a farmer, Township constable, cement and log truck driver, mechanic, carpenter, roustabout for oil and water wells. Gary enjoyed working on anything with an engine, especially John Deere tractors and Husqvarna chainsaws.

In his younger years he enjoyed working on and driving race cars at Whittemore Speedway. He was an Iosco County 4-H leader for over 25 years, Member of Pioneer Power Tractor club, proudly served 10 years on the Richland-Logan Fire Department, followed by several years on the Fire Board. To Gary, family, loved ones and friends always came first.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 1/2 years, Linda (Beach); children Jason Palmer of Hale, Lisa (Joe) Gittings of Rhodes; brother-in-law, Nelson Beach of Prescott; sister-in-law, Susan (Marty) Weishuhn of Prescott; nieces and nephews; Matthew and Kendra Colvin of West Branch, Michael Colvin of Prescott, Nathan Beach (Kimmy) of Prescott, Brandon Beach (Jenny) of Prescott, Jessica, Nicole and Chris Weishuhn of Grand Blanc; extended family, Jason and Jess Bowman of Mt. Pleasant, James and Mark Waterfield of Grove City, OH and Susan Waterfield of Farmington Hills, great-nieces and nephews; beloved grand furbabies; Molly, Carmalee, Chip, Blue, Chance and June.
