Billy Hathaway, 85, of Lewiston

Mr. Billy Allen Hathaway, 85 of Lewiston, Michigan died suddenly on June 16, 2022 at Munson Healthcare Otsego Memorial Hospital in Gaylord. He was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on July 15, 1936 to the late, Jack and Madalene (Pipp) Hathaway. He married his wife, Leigh Ann (Damon) Hathaway in Brighton on September 20, 1958 and together the couple celebrated 63 years of marriage before his passing. Billy worked as a volunteer firefighter for the city of Brighton for 45 years, as a die setter for Advanced Stamping, as the Gate 4 ticket taker at the University of Michigan, and for Chem-tend as a mixer for 18 years before retiring.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 198, 50+ Club, Michigan State Fireman’s Association, and the Lewiston Michigan Mushroom Club. Billy was a skilled and avid woodworker. His other favorite hobby was to fish on McCormick Lake. He first camped there at the age of two and has fished the lake every single year since. Billy is and will be missed.

He is survived by his loving wife, Leigh Ann Hathaway of Lewiston; daughters, Susan (Greg) Zuck of Brighton; Marsha (Kim) Price of Pinckney; grandchildren, Brian (Kristina), Becci (Steve), Marco, Austin (Savanna); and great-grandchildren, Olivia, Lily, Calvin, and J.R. Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Madalene Hathaway.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Billy’s life took place on Monday, June 20, 2022. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the 50+ Club, 2811 Kneeland St, Lewiston, Michigan 49756.
