Thomas Gerard Gates of South Branch, MI, passed away May 12, 2022 in Tawas City, MI . He was born on May 15, 1951, in Royal Oak, MI to Floyd and Virginia (Murphy) Gates.
Thomas joined the United State Marine Corp in 1968, serving in the Vietnam War. After leaving the service he worked as an automotive technician for Fischer Buick for 20 years and then Suburban Cadillac for 12 years. He retired in 2012.
Thomas married Dawn Gedert in June of 1997 in Waterford, MI.
Thomas enjoyed horseback riding, camping and “shoeing with Levi”.
He is survived by his wife, Dawn; children, Jenny Gedert, Kellie Gates, Noah Gates; brother, Tim Gates; grandchildren, Abraham, Kaden, Kiera, Liam, Will, Ariana, Maddison; great grandchild, Elena.
He is preceded in death by his parents. The family will welcome friends on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at the Buresh Funeral Home in Hale, MI. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am with Memorial Service at 1:00 pm.
