Shirley Compton, 71 of AuGres

Shirley Fay Compton, Age 71, of Au Gres, MI passed away on May 12, 2022 at home surrounded by her loving family.

Shirley was born in Monette, Arkansas on November 30, 1950, the daughter of the late Winford and Alma Pyland (Gleghorn). She married Gary L. Compton on July 7, 1972. Shirley and Gary lovingly raised 2 boys: Eric Brian Compton and Brent Laird Compton.

She was a beautician in her early years and retired from Genesee Schools as the “Recess lady.” Shirley loved spending time with her grandchildren, family, and friends. She loved taking pictures, collecting antiques and playing on a women’s pool league. Shirley lived life to the fullest and loved adventures. Anyone who knew Shirley loved her for her kindness and generosity to all.

Shirley is survived by her 2 sons, Eric (Karrie) Compton and Brent (Julia Hayden) Compton; 3 grandchildren, Cassie and Mick Compton, and Jeremy Hayden. She is also survived by 4 brothers and sisters, David (Deb) Pyland, Lenny (Kandi) Pyland, Beth (Les) Richard, Nancy Pyland and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Gary L. Compton. A celebration of her life will take place at a later date.
