Alan King, 64, of Houghton Lake

Alan Houghton King, 64, of  Houghton Lake passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday May 19, 2022 .

Alan was born on May 21, 1957 in Gaylord, Michigan to Houghton “Bud” and Wilma (Murray) King. Alan left high school to serve his country as a Seaman in the United States Navy in 1974, parting ways in 1977. Alan was then married to Norma Breyer (King) in 1986, together they raised two daughters, Elizabeth and Leah. 

In the time leading up to his passing, Alan was very excited to begin working on the Lavender Farm that he and Leah started. He always loved spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Murphy, tending to and working on the Christmas Tree Farm (King’s  Farms). Alan was always an enthusiastic man, from taking care of his family, to spending time with his friends, starting (but not always finishing) projects, and his life’s work on the farm.

Surviving Alan are his children; Elizabeth (Dante Burch) King and Leah (Nic Payne) King; grandson, Murphy Payne; Ex Wife, Norma Breyer; sister, Barbara (Randy) Stevenson; and his brother, Gary King. Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Houghton “Bud” and Wilma King.

Alan’s family will be holding a private memorial in his honor at a later date. In lieu of flowers or memorial contributions, please make a donation to your local veteran’s organizations.
