Lola Jean Bradley, age 90, passed away peacefully February 19, 2022 at the Brook of Houghton Lake. She was born May 22, 1931 in Toledo, Ohio to Duane and Frances Ermish. She married her sweetheart Donald Jack Bradley in August of 1947 who preceded her in death in 1998.
Lola was a petite little “spitfire” who could always be heard before she was seen, and her love for people showed through her big bright smile as she entered any room.
Lola and Don moved to Houghton Lake in 1970 and purchased the former Johnson’s Motel. The couple also owned several other businesses in the Houghton Lake area in the 1980’s. For many years Lola worked for the Houghton Lake School District as a lunch cashier. After retirement, Lola also worked part-time at various retail stores in the area.
Lola is survived by her only son Donald James Bradley, three nephews, Mike, Matt and Tim Ermish and one niece, Ellen Lukens.
Donald would like to thank the First Baptist Church of Prudenville (of which Lola was a long-time member) for their ongoing prayers and support for Lola, always thanking God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when praying for her. Her best friends, Debbie and Don Hauch, displayed Christian love for Lola for many years – thanks so much to both of you for being there for Lola during all her times of need.
Thanks is also extended to the staff at the Brook of Houghton Lake. Although Lola was in independent living, the staff were friendly and courteous, especially the Manager Pam, whose warm hugs and compassion for Lola were much appreciated.
