Carole Ostling, 69, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2021, at Grayling Mercy Hospital, nearly 70 years after she was born there, with family by her side.
Carole attended Gerrish Higgins schools and graduated in 1970, was a graduate of Ferris State College, and was a lifelong resident of Roscommon where she worked as a child support specialist for the Prosecutor’s office.
She was an avid golfer all her life. Her parents were part owners in the Burning Oak Golf Course where she worked and honed her game. More recently, she was involved with play and leagues at Ye Olde and Fox Run Country Clubs. Carole was a dependable team member, as well as a formidable opponent to many.
She was always ready with her many artistic talents and a dependable “go-to” for any celebration that came along. Birthdays and graduations won’t be the same.
Carole was very proud of her nephews and their families, especially her grandnieces and -nephews.
She will be sorely missed by her many, many friends and family. Saturdays during football season or in the spring as pro golf hit the TV, you could always find a crew at her place watching the game and having some laughs or out on Higgins Lake – Carole could certainly be heard right in the middle of it all.
Carole is survived by her beloved doodle Teddy; brother Jim (Pam) Ostling; nephews Trent Ostling and Blake (Janae) Ostling; grandnieces and -nephews Alyssa, Alayna, Owen and Gradyn. She is preceded in death by parents Kenny and Mary Jane Ostling.
Per her wishes, a celebration of life will be held at a future date.
Contributions in Carole’s name can be made out to the Roscommon County Community Foundation – Richard and Margaret Torongo Memorial or Larry Sumerian Memorial – Summer Music Scholarship, PO Box 824, Roscommon, MI 48653.
Arrangements entrusted to Wagner and Walsh Funeral Directors, Roscommon.
