Robert Frank Houghton, 82, of Grayling, MI passed away Saturday, November 27, 2021 at MidMichigan Medical Center in Alma, MI.
Robert was born in Grayling on June 15, 1939 to Nyland and Lillian (Ahman) Houghton. Bob was a man of strong faith in the Lord. In later years, he spent much of his time visiting with patients at the local hospital and nursing home. Bob worked at his family’s Mobil Gas Station in Grayling. He taught junior high school in Port Huron, MI. In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Bob was a Captain in the U.S. Army Field Artillery until 1965. He received a B.S. and Master’s Degree from Michigan State University.
Bob is survived by many cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents Nyland and Lillian. Bob’s family would like to send special thanks to his friends and caregivers, Michael Miller and Michelle Schwartz for helping him these past few years.
Funeral Services will take place Wednesday, December 1, 2021, 1:00 pm at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home with visitation starting at 10:00 am. Pastor Reed Schorer will be officiating. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery following services. It is asked that everyone please wear a mask to all services.
