Sandra J. Barber, 81, of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Frederic, passed away peacefully August 15, 2021.
Sandra is survived by her children, Dawn Funnell of Mt. Pleasant, Elizabeth (Joseph) Fitzpatrick of Traverse City, Mark (Pam) Every of Iowa and Jeffery (Sheila) Every of Shepherd; step-children, Annette Kinkle of Grayling and Andrew Barber of Grayling; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren;10 step-grandchildren; one brother, John (Yong) Schotte of Arkansas; and two nieces. She is preceded in death by her father and mother Albert Schotte and Cecelia (Jaruzel) Schotte, husband Ernie Barber, brother Donald Schotte, and sister Kathleen Avery.
Sandra was born in Grayling on June 4, 1940. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s Class of 58′. She was the Frederic Twp Treasurer and also was treasurer of the local library advisory board. She was an active member at 1st Calvary Baptist Church of Frederic (treasurer; LMF; Flower ministries; among other things.). She started the “Red Hat Society Group” called “Frederic Rubies”. She also worked at Central Michigan Community Hospital in Mt. Pleasant for 10 years and K-Mart pharmacy for 3 years.
Sandra was loved deeply by her family and will be dearly missed.
Funeral will be at First Baptist Church in Frederic Saturday, August 21, visitation starting at 11 am followed by a funeral service at noon. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Frederic with luncheon following at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Sandra to First Baptist Church.
