Frederick Albert Foster, 76, of Houghton Lake

Frederick Albert Foster, 76, of Houghton Lake passed away on Tuesday April 20, 2021 at home with his loving family by his side.

Frederick was born on August 3, 1944 in Mt Pleasant, Michigan to Harold and Mabel (Grove) Foster. He moved to the Houghton Lake area as a child and spent most of his life in Houghton Lake. Fred served in the Navy from 1963 to 1968 and then in the Army National Guard from 1985 to 1987. He worked as a carpenter and builder. Fred was married on August 12, 2004 in Houghton Lake to Rita May Thompson. He was a past member of Houghton Lake VFW. A quiet soul who enjoyed the outdoors. Fred went fishing and camping, and in his younger days would be out hunting. While spending time indoors Fred would enjoy playing and surfing on his computer. His special love was spending time with his friends and family, and especially his long time friend Oscar.

Surviving Mr. Foster are his loving wife of nearly 18 years, Rita May Foster of Houghton Lake; two sons, Richard Foster of Flint, and Steven (Chelsea) Foster of Houghton Lake; daughter, Brenda (Jeff) Frasier of Linden; four grandchildren, Makayla, Kaedyance, Kassidee, and Kyson; sister, Connie Musil of Clare. Fred was preceded in death by his parents. 

Funeral Services for Frederick Albert Foster will be conducted at 5:00 pm on Friday April 23, 2021 from Christler Funeral Home with Rev. Douglas Stockwell officiating. Interment will be in Lake Twp. Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday April 23, 2021 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel.  Memorial contributions in memory of Fred are asked to be directed to the family.
