Shirley A. McRae, 90, of Prudenville

Shirley A. McRae, 90, of Prudenville passed away on Monday March 8, 2021 at King Nursing and Rehabilitation Community, Houghton Lake.

Shirley was born on August 19, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan to Jonathon and Cleta (Knights) Walker. Shirley grew up in the Detroit area where she graduated from high school. On September 2, 1961 in Livonia, Shirley was married to Robert H. McRae. She worked as a waitress in the Detroit area for several years and was a homemaker and mother of four children. The couple moved from Warren to Houghton Lake in 1993. Shirley was a member of Merritt-Butterfield United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, and spending time with family, especially her husband, Robert.

Surviving Mrs. McRae are her daughter, Pamela (Jim) Bowman of Prudenville; three sons, William (Erin) McRae of Prudenville, Michael (Denice) McRae of Lowell, Steven (Debra) McRae of Hartland; seven grandchildren; Kimberly McRae, Rodger Lyons, Robert(Stephanie) Lyons, Mitchell(Molly) McRae, Monica(Mike) Zwiefelhofer, and Madison McRae; nine great grandchildren; sister, Gwen Robie of Westland. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Robert H. McRae.

Funeral Services for Shirley A. McRae will be conducted at 2:00pm on Saturday March 13, 2021 from Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel with Rev. George Spencer officiating. Interment will be in Roscommon Township Cemetery, Houghton Lake. Visitation will be held on Saturday March 13, 2021 from 11:00am until the time of the service at 2:00pm at Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel. Memorial contributions in memory of Shirley are asked to be directed to Alzheimer’s Foundation. Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family. Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, masks covering the mouth and nose will be required, social distancing will be observed, and the funeral home and church capacity is limited to 25 people at any given time, including the time of the service.
