Frederick Albert Riske, 78

From Roscommon passed away on Monday February 15, 2021 at Munson Healthcare Traverse City Hospital.

Fred was born on January 18, 1943 in Flint, Michigan to Robert and Doris (Taylor) Riske. He grew up in the Lincoln Park area, graduating from Lincoln Park High School in 1961. Fred served was a TSgt in the Air Force for 23 years as a Aerospace Control and Warning Radar Technician. He then worked for the Department of the Navy for 17 years in the electronics on Naval Ships. Fred was married on November 10, 2012 in Tallahassee, Florida to Judith Mae Ewing. He had moved to many areas during his military career. The couple had a place at Higgins Lake where they came for the summers and then moved to Higgins Lake full time in 2014 from Florida. Fred attended St. John Lutheran Church in Houghton Lake and Mt. Hope Lutheran Church in Grayling. He was very active in the Lutheran Church all of his life. Fred enjoyed spending time with the St. John’s Men’s Breakfast Group. He also spent time fishing from his boat, and keeping up with NASCAR and Michigan Football. Fred also loved spending time with his beloved dog Libby, who went everywhere with him.

Surviving Mr. Riske are his loving wife, Judith Mae Riske of Roscommon; son, Michael (Peter) Lampasnoa-Riske of CT; step son, Donald (Juli) Fike Jr. of AL; two step daughters, Janet (Ronald) Kelly of FL, and Crystal (Jay) Lingao of NC; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters, Marilyn (George) Meyers of Rockford, and Rosetta (Roy) Land of FL; several nieces and nephews. Frederick was preceded in death by his parents; former wife, Eileen; and two sons, Frederick and Scott.

Graveside Military Honors for Frederick Albert Riske will be conducted at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly Michigan at a later date. Memorial contributions in memory of Fred are asked to be directed to the American Cancer Society. Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family.
