Robert A. Schaeffer

Robert Arnold Schaeffer, 87, passed away Aug. 9, 2018 at Masonic Pathways. Family graveside services were held at Crestview Cemetery in Roscommon. Pastor Jim Noggle of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church presided. A memorial service for family & friends will be announced at a later date.
He was born the son of Ralph and Agnes (Losie) Schaeffer on June 3, 1931 in Detroit. The family moved to Roscommon from Detroit in 1943. After graduation from Roscommon High School, Robert served his country as a Corporal in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during the Korean War. In 1954 he was united in marriage to Virginia Watson in Detroit. The family resided in Chelsea for 36 years where Bob was employed by Rockwell International as Plant Superintendent. He and his family spent summers at their home at Higgins Lake. After retirement he owned and operated an antique restoration and refinishing business in Ypsilanti. In 1999 they moved to Alma Masonic Pathways, Alma, MI.
Bob was a 32nd degree member of the Masonic Order, Master of Lodge 156, Royal Arch H.P., T.I.M. of Council, past President of Masonic Pathways Hi Twelve Club #756, a member of Saginaw Elf Khurafeh Shrine Clown unit and a member of the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church of Roscommon.
Memorial gifts may be made to Shriners Hospital c/o Alma Masonic Pathways 1200 Wright Ave., Alma, MI 48801.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers Ralph and Richard Schaeffer and one sister Beverly Becker.
Left to honor his memory are his beloved wife Virginia of 64 years, two sons and three daughters, Robert (Terry) of Mason, Daniel (Candy) of Denver, CO, Elizabeth Renius of Myrtle Beach, SC, Judy Phillips (Dan) of Chelsea, and Sarah Gerschutz (Lonnie) of Florence, SC; fourteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are by Walsh Funeral Home, Roscommon.
