Robert R. ‘Fat Bob’ Kleven

Robert R. ‘Fat Bob’ Kleven, 74, of Houghton Lake passed away on Saturday June 16, 2018 at home.

Bob was born January 18, 1944 in Detroit to Harry and Dorothy(Repasky) Kleven. He grew up in the Detroit and Deckerville area where he graduated from school before the family moved to Houghton Lake in 1975. They owned and operated the Sunoco and later Union 76 gas station on M-55 for many years. Later he opened Fat Bob’s Motorcycle Shop on Old 27. Bob enjoyed motorcycle riding, darts, horseshoes, snowmobiling, listening to music, sports, especially NBA Basketball, and an “occasional” trip to the casino.

Surviving Mr. Kleven are his daughter, Lori Kleven of Houghton Lake; two sons, Harry Kleven of WY, and Robert R. Kleven, Jr. of Houghton Lake; seven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; two brothers, Don (Polly) Hegedes of MN, and Steve (Vicki) Hegedes of MN; two sisters, Joyce Kaikkonen of CA, and Barbara Kleven of CA; former wife, Donna Brinkman of Prudenville; several nieces and nephews; and his three special pets, Chi-Chi, Chewy, and Mia.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Joan Christianson.

Celebration of Life Services for Robert R Kleven, Sr. are being planned for a later date.
