Eugen Hans Stiefelmayer of Higgins Lake

Eugen Hans Stiefelmayer, 85, of Higgins Lake, passed away Jan. 26, 2018 at The Lighthouse of Roscommon.

Eugen was born in Dayton, Ohio June 5, 1932 to Eugen and Anna Maria (Beck) Stiefelmayer.

He married Kathryn L. Griffith July 25, 1953 in Liberty, Indiana.

They resided in Higgins Lake since 1971.

Eugen had a career in Industrial Sales until 1971, when he bought the hardware store and the Dairy Freeze at Higgins Lake and relocated his family to Roscommon, then realizing he couldn’t support a family this way, he decided to go back into Industrial Sales, until his retirement in 1991.

He was a member of the Roscommon Train Club for about 5 years.

Eugen enjoyed trains and antique cars. Several times Eugen drove his Thunderbird in the Roscommon Homecoming Parade. He enjoyed all that Higgins Lake had to offer, especially boating.

He loved his children and adored his grandchildren.

Eugen served his country in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956.

Surviving are his wife, Kathryn; children, Eugen Jr. (Brina) Stiefelmayer of Round Lake, Il., Kathryn Thomas of Roscommon, Todd (Annette) Stiefelmayer of Waukegan, Il. and Annette (Matt) Murray of Roscommon; 13 grandchildren, Jakob, Noah, Bryn, Leah, Erin, Evan, Sarah, Todd, Arielle, Rosalie, Blake, Gwyneth and Katie; three great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Autumn, and Alex; and two sisters, Loralee (Gene) Smith and Anna Marie (Ralph) Reboulet.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and their daughter, Kathy Sue who died in 1958.

Funeral services will be at Walsh Funeral Home, Roscommon Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2018 at 11 a.m. officiated by Lonnie Wilkerson. Burial will be at Gerrish Township Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Roscommon High School Theatre Dept., 10600 Oakwood Dr., Roscommon MI 48653.

Walsh Funeral Home, Roscommon is serving the family.
