Ivy Burnell “Burnie” Hodo of Houghton Lake

Ivy Burnell “Burnie” Hodo, age 67, of Houghton Lake passed away on Monday, Dec. 11, 2017 at West Branch Regional Medical Center.

Burnie was born on October 19, 1950 in Detroit, Michigan to WD and Aretta (Gill) Hodo. He graduated from Houghton Lake Community Schools in 1968. Ivy was married in Dickinson, Texas to Victoria Keenan. Ivy and Victoria were happily together for 42 years. The couple moved back to Houghton Lake in 1999. He worked as an electrician in residential and commercial construction. In earlier years he worked as an Industrial Painter in the Texas Oil Industry. Burnie enjoyed fishing, hunting for morel mushrooms, playing guitar, and classic cars.

Surviving Mr. Hodo are his loving wife of 35 years, Victoria Hodo of Houghton Lake; two daughters, Sonja Hodo of Houghton Lake, and Jennifer Lace (TJ Spencer) Hodo of Toledo, OH; son, Cortland Hodo of Foley, Alabama; two grandsons Dylan Smith of Houghton Lake, and one on the way; brother, Terral (Kathleen) Hodo of Blanchard; and nephew, Colin Hodo of Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services for Ivy Burnell “Burnie” Hodo will be conducted at a later date. Interment will be in Roscommon Township Cemetery, Houghton Lake. Memorial contributions in memory of Burnie are asked to be directed to the family. Condolences can be sent to the family online at www.christler-holdship.com.
