Sarah Catherine Oppy of Roscommon

Sarah Catherine Oppy, 95, of Roscommon passed away Oct. 28, 2017 at The Brook of Roscommon.

Sarah was born in Portsmouth, Ohio Nov. 27, 1921 to Harry Frederick and Lida Catherine (Williamson) Rappa. She married Dr. Charles L. Oppy, MD Aug. 21, 1942 in Portsmouth Ohio.

Sarah resided in Roscommon since 1954, coming from Ohio.

Sarah was a piano teacher and the musician at First Congregational Church in Roscommon where she was also a member.

She was a member of the Roscommon Area Historical Society. She had been a member of the same bridge club for 65 years. She loved music, her kids, grandkids, reading and word puzzles. Sarah was a former Zonta Woman of the Year.

Surviving are three children, Louise (Jeffrey) Mahan of Aurora, CO, Miller (Marge Kuhn) Oppy of Moon Twp., PA and Beth (Randy) Denski of Umatilla, FL; daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Oppy of Higgins Lake; and seven grandchildren, Jason (Michelle), Rachael (Ethan), Nick, Nathan, Ashley, Olivia and Kelly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Charles L. Oppy, MD; son, Stephen Oppy; and three brothers, Wendell, Bernard and Johnny Rapp.

A service will be held later at First Congregational Church, Roscommon. Burial was at Roscommon Village Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to First Congregational Church, Roscommon.

Walsh Funeral Home, Roscommon served the family.
