Mary Ann Proctor of Houghton Lake

Mary Ann Proctor, 80, of Houghton Lake passed away on August 14, 2017 at Munson Medical Center, Traverse City, following an automobile accident.

She was born on September 25, 1936 in Detroit to John and Mary Ann (Sherman) Mathe. She grew up in the Detroit area where she graduated from high school. On May 14, 1955 in Garden City, Mary Ann was married to Robert Allen Proctor.

Mrs. Proctor was employed as a clerk by Chatham Grocery Store in Westland for several years. The Proctors moved from Garden City to Houghton Lake 11 years ago.

She enjoyed reading, going for walks, and tending to her garden and yard. She had a special passion for watching the Tigers, and the Red Wings.

Surviving are her loving husband of 62 years, Robert Allen Proctor of Houghton Lake; three daughters, Yvonne Daleo of Houghton Lake, Francine (Michael) Coleman of Longmont, CO, and Dyan (Dean) Scanlon of Columbus, OH; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Cooter of Belleville; brother, John (Lois) Mathe of Westland; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Frank Mathe.

Visitation begins at 10 a.m. until funeral services at 12 p.m. today (Aug. 22) from Houghton Lake United Methodist Church with Rev. George Spencer officiating.

Memorial contributions in memory of Mary Ann are asked to be directed to the Houghton Lake United Methodist Church.

Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family.
