Mary Lou Kolakowski of Houghton Lake

Mary Lou Kolakowski of Houghton Lake, 62, passed away July 25, 2017 at her home.

She was born on June 8, 1955 in Saginaw to Robert and Patricia (McMullen) Schuett. She moved to the Houghton lake area about 25 years ago where she was employed as the apartment manager for many years at Sandhill Manor Apartments in Houghton Lake.

On September 9, 2001 in Houghton Lake Mary was married to Edmund Walter Kolakowski. She was a member of the Houghton Lake Eagles and Houghton Lake Moose. She loved caring for people’ needs and caring for family. She enjoyed animals, especially her two cats.

Surviving are her two brothers, Mark and James Schuett, both of Houghton Lake; sister, Christine Mortimer of Highland; five grandchildren, Nick, Katelyn, Logan, Chelsea, and Sara; step-mother, Ruthann Schuett of Houghton Lake; two step-daughters, Tamara (Ken) Butler of Mio, and Lisa (John) Cox of Carleton; step-son, Edmund (DanielleCox) Kolakowski of Houghton Lake; three nephews, Brian Schuett, Jeff Schuett, and Brandon Schuett; and three nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edmund Walter Kolakowski; and brother, Matt Schuett.

Memorial Services for Mary Lou Kolakowski will be conducted at 2 p.m. August 6 at the Houghton Lake Moose Lodge, 100 James Road, Houghton Lake.

Memorial contributions in memory of Mary are asked to be directed to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family.
