Richard Lee ‘Rick’ Travelbee of Merritt

< >Richard Lee “Rick” Travelbee, 72, Merritt, passed away May 4, 2017 at home with his loving family by his side.

< >He was born on November 11, 1944 in Byron City to Francis and Georgia (Schnepee) Travelbee. He moved with his family to Merritt in 1950 from Holly.

< >He was employed by White Deer Golf Course, and Sandy Oaks RV Park before retiring. He was married on February 17, 1973 in Lake City to Joyce M Blair.

< >Mr. Travelbee was a member of the Lake City United Methodist Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing and doing mechanical work.

< >Surviving are his loving wife of 44 years, Joyce M Travelbee of Lake City; daughter, April (Ken) Pace of Falmouth; sons, Allen (Dana) Travelbee of Falmouth, Lee (Diane) Travelbee of Detroit, Dennis (Heidi) Travelbee of Houghton Lake, Clare Travelbee of Merritt, Kevin (Jenny) Travelbee of Merritt; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

< >Also surviving are two sisters, Linda (Brian) Edwards of Falmouth, Louise Horn of Jenison; and several nieces and nephews.

< >He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Rosetta, and Barbara, and two brothers, Lavern, and Dennis.

< >Visitation is today (May 10) at Merritt-Butterfield United Methodist Church from 2 pm until the funeral service at 3 p.m.

< >Burial will be in Star City Cemetery.

< >Memorial contributions in memory of Richard are asked to be directed to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

< >Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family.
