Donald J. Gaedert of Higgins Lake

Donald J. Gaedert, 94, of Higgins Lake passed away March 20, 2017 at Crawford Continuing Care Center in Grayling.

Mr. Gaedert was born Nov. 13, 1922 in Portland, Mich. to John and Lena M. (Neff) Gaedert.

He married Natalie Marie Reed July 7, 1942 in Vermontville.

He resided in Vermontville prior to moving to Higgins Lake in 1985.

Mr. Gaedert was a die setter for General Motors Lansing Oldsmobile retiring in 1983 after 34 years.

He was a member of First Congregational Church in Roscommon.

He was a former member and Past Worshipful Master at the Roscommon Masonic Lodge #364 F&AM. He enjoyed playing golf.

Mr. Gaedert was a World War II US Army veteran achieving the rank of Corporal. He served in the Pacific and European theaters and landed on the Philippines, Guam and New Guinea.

Surviving are three children, Harold (Lori) Gaedert of Higgins Lake; Patti (Coley) Gordon of Flushing and Kathy (Paul) Spasoff of Prudenville; eight grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; sister, Eleanor Racey of Texas and brother-in-law, Vern (Marilyn) Reed of Hale.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Natalie; and two sons, John and Steve Gaedert.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, March 23 at Walsh Funeral Home in Roscommon. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Lyon Township.

Walsh Funeral Home, Roscommon is serving the family.
