Robert N. Leedy, 89, of Houghton Lake, passed away February 13, 2017 at home with his loving family by his side.
He was born on June 9, 1927 in Wooster, Ohio to Alva and Margie (Teatsorth) Leedy. He moved from Wooster to Houghton Lake in 1940 and graduated from Houghton Lake High School in 1945. Shortly after high school he served as a Seaman 2/c in the Navy during the end of World War II. Then he married Eva Jean Sanderson on December 31, 1948 in Houghton Lake Heights.
Mr. Leedy was employed by Roscommon State Bank in Houghton Lake for many years. He was a member of the Houghton Lake Masonic Lodge, American Legion, and VFW. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, was an avid golfer, and loved doing woodworking.
Surviving are his loving wife of 68 years, Eva Jean Leedy of Houghton Lake; daughter, Vicky Barrios of Spearfish, South Dakota; two sons, Thomas (Erica) Leedy of Merritt and James (Rebekah) Leedy of Houghton Lake; daughter-in-law, Susan Leedy of Houghton Lake; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert Ralph Leedy; grandson, Ryan Earegood; and infant son, John J. Leedy; and two brothers and three sisters.
Visitation is today (Feb. 17) from 10 a.m. until the memorial services at 12:00 pm from Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel with Rev. William Winter officiating.
