Jerry Stroik of Roscommon

Jerry E. Stroik, 75, of Roscommon, passed away Jan. 8, 2017 at West Branch Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Saginaw March 5, 1941 to Edward and Marie Katherine Wihelmina (Wagner) Stroik, was raised there, and married Susan K. (Fischer) there May 24, 1969.

The Stroiks moved to West Branch in 1976 and to Roscommon in 2007.

Mr. Stroik was employed as a salesman in sporting goods at Morley Brothers, and shoes at K-Mart. He also was a mail sorter for the post office and sold real estate in Saginaw. In West Branch, he had been a broker for Century 21 for 21 years and then owned and operated Gateway Realty. He was currently a broker for Real Estate One in Houghton Lake.

He attended Hope Lutheran Church in St. Helen, was a 30 year member of the West Branch Optimist Club and belonged to the St. Helen and the Cardinal-Skidway Optimist Clubs. He also was involved in the Traverse City, Alpena, Rogers City and Scottville Optimist Clubs. He loved travel, going across the Mackinaw Bridge, any type of concerts, fishing, cars and golf. He was a member of the Apple Valley Golf League.

Surviving are two children, Brian (Lori) Stroik of Commerce Twp. and Stacy (Joe) Pigeon of Roscommon; five grandchildren, Jett, Paige and Ella Pigeon, Zax (Alicia) Sapp and Kristian Card; a great-granddaughter, Oakley Sapp; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Susan.

Funeral services were conducted Walsh Funeral Home, Roscommon with Pastor Rodney Morrison officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to the family for a charity to be determined later.
