Houghton Lake man arrested for assault

ROSCOMMON CO. – On Sunday, May 29, 2022, at approximately 5:07 p.m. a trooper from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Houghton Lake Post was dispatched to a domestic assault in progress at an address on Sandhill Manor Drive in Denton Township. The victim had run outside her residence and was yelling for someone to call 911.

The trooper arrived at the scene and immediately noticed a woman trying to waive him down. The trooper asked where the suspect was, and she pointed to a red Ford Taurus that was driving away. The trooper stopped the vehicle and identified the suspect as 35-year-old Michael Lee Senrud from Houghton Lake.

The victim alleged Senrud and her had gotten into an argument while he was there picking up his belongings. The victim stated he was not welcome in the residence; however, he was on the lease. During the argument, Senrud allegedly assaulted her and grabbed her by the throat. Senrud was placed under arrest and lodged in the Roscommon County Jail.

Senrud and his attorney waived his arraignment in the 82nd District Court in Roscommon County for on one count Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm less than Murder. His bond was set at $25,000 10% cash surety.

The trooper was assisted by deputies from the Roscommon County Sheriff’s Office.
