Distracted driver causes crash on US-127

ROSCOMMON COUNTY – On Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at approximately 11:20 a.m. a trooper from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Houghton Lake Post was dispatched to a crash on northbound US-127 near Canoe Camp Road, in Roscommon Township. A 31-year-old Plymouth man driving a 2011 Dodge pickup truck was northbound on US-127. The driver was distracted looking at his GPS device when he struck a fully illuminated road construction vehicle towing a trailer in the left lane. The construction vehicle was travelling at a slower speed with a flashing arrow warning drivers to move over for a work convoy ahead painting lines on the highway. There were no reported injuries. The man from Plymouth was issued a citation for careless driving.

The MSP want to remind drivers that distracted driving is a real threat to the people working on our roadways and to other motorists. Stay alert and pay attention to the roadway.
