REGION – Six individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 attended an outdoor concert at the Soaring Eagle Casino in Mt Pleasant on July 24, 2021. During the case investigations conducted by the Central Michigan District HealthDepartment and other local health departments, it was determined that other attendees may have beenexposed. More than 10,000 people attended this event.
Attendees of this concert are encouraged to get tested for COVID-19 regardless of vaccination status. Testinglocations can be found at www.michigan.gov/coronavirustest or by calling 2-1-1. In addition, you shouldmonitor for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 through August 7, 2021 and wear a face covering while in publicareas. People with COVID-19 have reported a wide range of symptoms, ranging from mild to severe. Symptomsmay appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. Call your healthcare provider if you think you are developingany of the symptoms of COVID-19 described below and seek emergency care if you are having severesymptoms.
People with these symptoms may have COVID-19:
- Fever or chills
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Fatigue
- Muscle or body aches
- Headache
- New loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- Congestion or runny nose
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhea
“We are seeing increases in new cases and potential outbreaks of COVID-19 throughout Michigan”, says Dr.Jennifer Morse, Medical Director for Central Michigan District Health Department. “This is a soberingreminder that this pandemic is not over and could overwhelm us again. It is more important than ever totake the steps we have to control COVID-19. If you are not yet fully vaccinated for COVID-19, please do soas soon as possible. You can find a vaccination site at www.vaccine.gov or by calling 211. It is also important to stay home when ill, avoid crowded areas, keeping at least 6 feet apart from others, wear a mask when in public, cover coughs and sneezes, and wash hands frequently.”
