Rotary supports Big Brothers Big Sisters

HOUGHTON LAKE – Pam Kincaid of Chemical Bank and Board member for Mid Michigan Big Brothers Big Sisters, spoke to the Rotary Club of Houghton Lake recently about Mid Michigan Big Brother Big Sister’s mission to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better.

An adult Big donates at least one hour per week or four hours per month to a child. The Big serves as a role model and friend to a child in a one-on-one mentoring relationship. The matches last at least one year.

Bigs and Littles spend time doing activities they have common interest in. Each month, a planned activity is also available for them to attend.

Rotary Club of Houghton Lake President Denise Stefanko presented Pam with a $1,000 grant to the program.

The Rotary Club of Houghton Lake is preparing for the 18th Annual Rotary Community Service Auction to be held Saturday, April 28 at the Columbian Home Hall in Prudenville. Tickets are now available from any Houghton Lake Rotarian.

More information about the activities of the Rotary Club of Houghton Lake can be found on the club web site at HLRotary.org or in Facebook @HLRotary.
