Wearing pink for cancer awareness are Houghton Lake band students (front row, left to right) Brook Pepper, Halie Stuhlman, Kat Haser, Ashley Lee, (back row, left to right) Laura Kleven, JoMarie Grahl, and Emma O’Toole. Kleven, Stuhlman, and Pepper performed a trio with Kleven on alto sax, Pepper on tenor sax, and Stuhlman on bari sax. Kleven also performed a solo and a duet, both also on alto sax, with Jessie Tyo (not pictured), who played an alto clarinet. Grahl performed a duet with Tyo as well, with both on Bb clarinet. Haser and Lee performed a flute trio with Cheyenne Koeneke (not pictured), and O’Toole performed a flute solo. All performers earned first division ratings at a recent State Solo & Ensemble Festival in Manistee.
