OTSEGO COUNTY – On Saturday, August 6, 2022, at approximately 7:26 p.m. troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Gaylord Post were dispatched to McCoy Road in Evergreen Township for an alleged felonious assault. A rock was thrown by 31-year-old Brandon Allen Clifton from Gaylord at a truck traveling behind him. The rock ricocheted off the truck and went through the windshield of a Dodge Caravan traveling in the opposite direction.
The driver of the truck stated he and his girlfriend, along with her two children, were traveling on Plywood Road. They saw his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend, Brandon Clifton, driving a Jeep in the opposite direction. Clifton saw them, slammed on his brakes, spun around, and followed them. While on McCoy Road, Clifton passed them and suddenly spiked his brakes. They saw Clifton produce a large rock from his Jeep and he threw it in the path of the truck. The rock ricocheted off the truck and went through the windshield of a Dodge Caravan that was traveling in the opposite direction. A seven-year-old girl in the back seat of the Caravan sustained minor injuries due to flying glass. The rock was recovered from inside the Dodge Caravan and seized as evidence. Clifton was arrested and lodged in the Otsego County Jail.
Clifton was arraigned in the 87-B District Court in Otsego County for one count Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, one county Malicious Destruction of Personal Property over $1,000 but less than $20,000 and Littering – Object in Vehicle Path. His bond was set at $2,000 cash surety.
