Range firing schedule: July 5-11

GRAYLING – National Guard units begin their training in the air this week starting Tuesday with F-16’s from Toledo, and A-10’s from Selfridge Air National Guard Bases. All aerial gunnery firing will take place on the Air-to-Ground Range, or Range 40 Complex. These fighter squadrons wrap up Thursday afternoon, however, on their heels is the 1-119th Field Artillery Regiment (FAR).

The 1-119th begins their field training exercise Thursday afternoon through Saturday evening, as the “Red Lion” battalion departs for home station on Sunday morning. Only minimal roads and trails will be CLOSED adjacent to Range 40 Complex to ensure public safety during live firing exercises.

The small arms ranges remain quiet again this week, however the Range 30 Complex has blank fire, colored smoke grenades, and illumination flares in effect. ALL ROADS outside the MPRC fence line remain OPEN to civilian traffic.

Camp Grayling Commander Scott Meyer’s and the Michigan DNR, encourage all persons operating boats and personal watercraft in Michigan to enroll in a boating safety course. The beach at Camp Grayling is open to boaters on Lake Margarethe and COL Meyer’s invites them to use the nearby food trucks and picnic tables for lunch and snacks.
