Camp Grayling range fire schedule: April 5-11

GRAYLING – As the temperatures begin to warm up, so do the small arms ranges. Scheduled for this week in “South Camp” located north of Howe Road, east of the gas pipeline, south of Portage Creek and west of Lake Margrethe; machine gun and small arms live-fire training will occur daily from dawn until dusk from Wednesday through Saturday.

A little further north at Camp Grayling’s Range 30 Complex is the Multi-Purpose Range Complex, or MPRC. The MPRC is located between Jones Lake Road and Stephan Bridge Road, and between North Down River Road and Bucks East & West Truck Trail. All Roads and trails outside of the MPRC fence line will be open to civilian traffic this week, including Stephen Bridge Road and points east.

Camp Grayling’s Range 40 Complex, also known as the Air to Ground Range, will be active during this time frame. The Air-Ground Range is located north of County Road 612, between the villages of Waters and Lovells. A-10 ground attack aircraft will be utilizing the ranges and airspace in and around the 40 complex ranges. Residents may see and hear low flying aircraft on Monday and Tuesday, April 5th and 6th. For the weekend expect to hear machine gun fire during the day on Saturday, April 10th. For public safety roads and trails adjacent to the Range 40 Complex will be closed during this period.
