C.O.O.R. ISD receives grant from RCCF

ROSCOMMON – The Roscommon County Community Foundation (RCCF) awarded a $648.00 grant to C.O.O.R. Intermediate School District recently. The Alexa A. Luck Memorial Fund awarded the funds to support this grant.

With the funds granted, C.O.O.R. ISD was able to purchase two TalkTablet Complete ACC/Speech Packages. The packages include a Samsung Tablet, protective carrying case, and the TalkTablet symbols based AAC app. TalkTablet generates speech output by offering buttons that contain words or phrases, or by using the tablets on-screen keyboard. Buttons can contain pictures, text, photographs or other symbols included with this app.

According to Gayle Daugherty, Certified Speech-Language Pathologist, ‘All of our students at the C.O.O.R. Educational Center with communication barriers will benefit. Students will be able to make their true thoughts, wants, needs and preferences known without communication partners assuming or guessing what the student is communicating.’

If you would like to support our community by contributing to the Alexa A. Luck Memorial Fund, or any other RCCF Fund, please contact us at 989-275-3112, by e-mail at info@myrccf.org or visit our website at www.myrccf.org.
