GAYLORD — The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will invest $4.3 million to mill and repave 17 miles of M-32, stretching from east of Hayes Road in Gaylord to east of Meridian Line Road in Vienna.
The project does not include the segment from Turtle Lake Road to McCoy Road and from Rowan Avenue to Finnegan Road, which was resurfaced in 2021.
Work will begin Monday, July 14, and is expected to be completed by Friday, Oct. 3. The project spans Otsego and Montmorency counties, with the closest communities being Gaylord, Johannesburg, and Vienna.
During construction, daytime single-lane closures will be in effect, with traffic regulated by flaggers. According to economic modeling, the project is anticipated to directly and indirectly support 41 jobs.
Safety improvements include new pavement markings and rumble strips, which will help extend the roadway’s service life.
