Santa Claus is coming to town Saturday … by rail

NORTHEAST MICHIGAN – Santa and Mrs. Claus, along with their friends, will be coming to Standish, West Branch, Roscommon and Grayling on Dec. 7, courtesy of Lake State Railroad.

Santa is scheduled to stop at the following locations:

Crawford County was forced to change locations this year. Since the inception of the Santa Train in 1999, it was held at the old railroad depot in downtown Grayling, in line with the Santa Train visiting the depots in the other participating communities.

President of the Crawford County Historical Society (CCHS) Gail Thomas, said the society “board made the decision” not to host the event at its Sept. 19 meeting. The Santa Train normally draws about 500 people to the museum.

Santa will be on the second level of the county building, giving the public access to restrooms and the elevator.

The Crawford County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously at its Oct. 10 meeting to allow use of the lobby of the county building.
