GAYLORD – A Otsego County man has been charged with murder, according to a Michigan State Police statement.
According the the statement, on Aug. 27 about 8:15 p.m., troopers from the Gaylord Post and deputies from the Otsego County Sheriff’s Department, l responded to a residence in Elmira Twp. for a domestic dispute involving gunfire.
Upon arrival, troopers made entry into the home and located a 57-year-old man who was shot and unresponsive. Deputies located the
suspect, 25-year-old Kyle Karsten, near a pole barn and took him into custody.
The 57-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the scene. Karsten was lodged at the Otsego County Jail without incident. The
investigation is still ongoing.
Karsten was arraigned in the 87-A District Court on August 28, 2024, on the charge of Murder (Homicide).
Bond was set at $350,000 cash/surety. Karsten’s next court appearance is on Sept. 5 at 1:30 p.m.
