TRAVERSE CITY – Two Traverse City residents found out it probably wasn’t the best idea to drive to the Traverse City Michigan State Police (MSP) post, then walk into the building while obviously intoxicated.
On May 30, a 54-year-old Traverse City resident drove to the MSP Traverse City Post requesting his fingerprints be taken for an expungement from an Operating While Impaired charge that occurred approximately 14 years ago.
The trooper detected an odor of intoxicants emitting from his breath as well as other signs of intoxication. The man was arrested for OWI and a blood test was obtained at Munson
Hospital. He was lodged in the Grand Traverse County Jail.
On May 8, a 28-year-old Traverse City resident drove his vehicle to the post and walked into the lobby acting completely irrational. He was not making sense and showed signs of “excited delirium.”
An ambulance was called for further evaluation and medical treatment. The person was suspected to be under the influence of drugs, and a search warrant was authorized for a blood test. He was transported to Munson Hospital by ambulance and the case will be
submitted to the Grand Traverse County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
Troopers want to remind everyone that if you drive to an MSP facility while intoxicated, there is an excellent chance you will be arrested.
