Hessel woman arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon

ALPENA COUNTY – On Saturday, December 3, 2022, at approximately 12:30 a.m. troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Alpena Post were called to a residence on Wessel Road in Alpena Township for a report of a felonious assault. The victim alleged his wife, 41-year-old Jennifer Melinda Headley from Hessel, threatened him with a handgun during an argument at his brother’s home and then fled the scene.

Troopers interviewed witnesses at the scene. It was believed Headley was returning to her home in Hessel. Troopers from the (MSP) St. Ignace Post were notified of the assault and stopped Headley as she crossed the Mackinac Bridge. Troopers located a loaded 9mm handgun inside the vehicle. Headley was placed under arrest and lodged in the Alpena County Jail.

Headley was arraigned in the 88th District Court in Alpena County for one count Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. She was given a $25,000 bond. Her next scheduled court appearance is on December 20, 2022, at 2:30 p.m.
