Oscoda County woman victimized by Redford relative

OSCODA COUNTY, MI. The Michigan State Police (MSP) Mio Detachment was contacted in January 2022, by the victim and a relative of the victim to investigate an alleged embezzlement.

The suspect, 61-year-old Patrice Ann Burcicki from Redford, also a relative of the victim, allegedly embezzled money from her. The victim moved in with Burcicki in April 2021. Burcicki convinced the victim to turn over all her identification and other personal information. She also had the victim give her power of attorney.

The victim moved out of the home and went to live with another relative in November 2021. She changed her power of attorney in early January 2022 to her other relative.

Shortly after this time, Burcicki opened a new bank account in the victim’s name without her permission. Over $30,000 was removed from the victim’s account. Burcicki was asked to return the money. She returned a substantial portion of the money, but not all of it.
A report was submitted to the Oscoda County Prosecutor’s Office. An arrest warrant was issued on May 25, 2022. Burcicki turned herself in at the Oscoda County Sheriff’s Office on June 27.
.
Burcicki was arraigned in the 81st District Court in Oscoda County on one count of Embezzlement from Vulnerable Adult $20,000 to $50,000. She was given a $50,000 PR bond.

Her next scheduled court appearance is on July 7, 2022, at 10:00 a.m
