Roscommon man arrested on concealed weapon charges

DENTON TOWNSHIP – On Friday, January 7, 2022, at approximately 5:43 a.m. troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Houghton Lake Post were called to a crash on M-55 near Oakdale Drive in Denton Township.

When troopers arrived, they found a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado had struck a powerline
pole. The vehicle was unoccupied; however, they noticed a man across the street standing in the parking lot at of a gas station.

The man, identified as 35-year-old Robert James Emery of Roscommon, denied
driving the vehicle, but witnesses at the scene stated he had been driving the truck when it crashed. Emery displayed signs of intoxication and a pat-down was performed prior to sobriety tests being ministered. Emery had a pocketknife in his pant pocket. He also had a double-edged, fixed blade knife in his backpack.

Sobriety tests were administered, and Emery was placed under arrest. He was lodged in the Roscommon County Jail.

Emery was arraigned today in the 82nd District Court in Roscommon County for one count Carrying a Concealed Weapon. Bond was set at $75,000 / 10% cash surety. His next scheduled court appearance is on Jan. 24 at 1 p.m.
