Accident claims life of Grayling man

GRAYLING –  The Michigan State Police Houghton Lake Post is investigating a single vehicle traffic
crash that resulted in the death of a 33 year-old old Grayling Man.

The crash occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. Saturday Sept. 14. The vehicle was north bound on business loop  I-75 (M-93) north of Grayling near Wellington Way, in Crawford County’s Grayling Township.

Initial investigation and witness
statements indicate the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it left the roadway to the East. The vehicle
overturned, and the driver was ejected. The driver/lone occupant was identified as 33-year-old Brian Phillips of
Grayling.

Phillips was pronounced dead at the scene by MMR ambulance service of Grayling.
This traffic crash remains under investigation and while speed is believed to be a factor, drugs and alcohol are
unknown at this time.

The Michigan State Police were assisted at the scene by The Crawford County Sheriff’s Department, MMR, and
Ausable Towing.
The crash remains under investigation.

Phillips’ relatives have been notified.
