Camp Grayling firing schedule for Aug. 2-10

GRAYLING . – Northern Strike 2019 is complete.

The 126th Infantry Battalion of the Michigan National guard and the 296th Infantry Battalion from the Puerto Rico National guard are the only Military units that will be conducting any training this week.  We will also have some Law Enforcement, along with some Border Patrol folks conducting some aerial door gunnery training.  Residents in and around the area of our small arms ranges south of Camp Grayling will hear small arms firing, with small explosions from time to time this week.

Out at Camp Grayling’s Multi-Purpose Range Complex also known as the Range 30 complex, located north of North Down River Road, east of Jones Lake Road, south of County Road 612 and west of Bald Hill Truck Trail.  Residents may hear some small arms firing.  A ll roads and trails west of Wakeley Bridge road, to include; Bucks East-West Truck Trail from Jones Lake Road to Wakeley Bridge Road, Ketchum truck Trail from Bucks East-West to North Down River Road, and Stephen Bridge Road from County Road 612 to North Down River Road will be closed to civilian traffic.  The gates will continue to be closed for the majority part of August.  Please respect all closed gates and do not enter these areas for your safety.  If you feel a gate is closed in error, please call Camp Grayling Headquarters at (989)344-6100 to verify the closure of the gate.  At each gate there will be a notice posted of when the gate was closed and a date when the gate will be re-opened.

Camp Grayling’s Range 40 Complex, also known as the Air to Ground range will be active during this timeframe.  Range 40 is located north of County Road 612, east of Guthrie Lake, south of Old State Road 618 and west of County Road F97 (Twin Bridge Road).  Residents will hear or see some fixed and rotor winged aircraft from time to time.  Residents may see or hear the aircraft beginning on Sunday, August 4th and continuing through Saturday, August 10th.
