ROSCOMMON- Working with Mid-Michigan Community Health Services Food Program, the Roscommon County Sheriff’s Department, Victim Service Unit, Richfield Township Public Safety, Gerrish Township Police, and volunteers packed boxes of food, milk and water on March 19.

Food and water were distributed to warming stations in St. Helen, the Gerrish Fire Department, and the Houghton Lake area, for those without power or heat due to the ice storm. Some individuals who couldn’t leave their homes because of trees or snow blocking driveways had food delivered to their homes.

The Congregational Church and Lion’s Den also received quantities of food, water, and milk for distribution.

One St. Helen mom was surprised when a Richfield police officer was able to get into her driveway and brought food. She and the family were very thankful for the delivery and wished she could have gotten his picture. Their electricity came on the next day.
