ROSCOMMON CO. – Consumers Energy is hosting two events in Houghton Lake and Roscommon on Friday, handing out free ice cream and other frozen treats to residents affected by this week’s outages. We want to express our gratitude for customers’ patience and cooperation as our crews work quickly and safely to restore electric service.
On Thursday, strong wind gusts of 60 mph swept through Northern Michigan, causing damage and knocking out power to over 28,000 customers. On Wednesday afternoon, many residents in the same area lost power because of an equipment issue at the Higgins substation while Consumers Energy was making reliability improvements there.
