OTSEGO COUNTY- The Michigan State Police (MSP) “Purses with a Purpose” initiative began in 2019 and has become an annual event. The MSP Gaylord Post is accepting new purses or tote bags filled with comfort items to benefit the Women’s Resource Center of Northern Michigan. The purses and their contents will be distributed to survivors of sexual assault. Donations can be made during regular business hours at the MSP Gaylord Post, located at 563 S. Otsego Avenue and several other designated areas in Cheboygan and Charlevoix Counties, through April, which is Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
